President Vladimir Putin held another telephone conversation with
\nPresident of\u00a0the\u00a0United States Donald Trump. The\u00a0call lasted for\u00a0more than an\u00a0hour and\u00a0a\u00a0half. The\u00a0exchange between the\u00a0two presidents was
\nconducted in\u00a0a\u00a0friendly manner and\u00a0was frank and\u00a0businesslike.<\/p>\n
Understandably, Vladimir Putin began by\u00a0expressing his sympathy and\u00a0support for\u00a0the\u00a0President of\u00a0the\u00a0United States in\u00a0connection with the\u00a0assassination attempt against him on\u00a0April\u00a025 at\u00a0the\u00a0Washington Hilton hotel. Fortunately,
\nneither Donald Trump himself, nor his spouse, nor any members of\u00a0his entourage
\nwere harmed. The\u00a0secret service was quick to\u00a0neutralise the\u00a0assailant. The\u00a0Russian leader strongly condemned this crime and\u00a0stressed, in\u00a0particular, that
\npolitically motivated violence was unacceptable in\u00a0any forms and\u00a0manifestations.<\/p>\n
It was also mentioned during the\u00a0conversation that this dangerous
\nincident occurred on\u00a0the\u00a0eve of\u00a0the\u00a0US First Lady\u2019s birthday on\u00a0April\u00a026.
\nPresident Vladimir Putin asked to\u00a0convey his best wishes and\u00a0noted her
\ncontribution to\u00a0efforts aimed at\u00a0facilitating the\u00a0reunification of\u00a0Russian and\u00a0Ukrainian children with their families.<\/p>\n
When discussing the\u00a0international agenda, the\u00a0presidents focused on\u00a0the\u00a0developments surrounding Iran and\u00a0the\u00a0Persian Gulf.<\/p>\n
Vladimir Putin believes that Donald Trump was right to\u00a0extend the\u00a0ceasefire for\u00a0Iran. This, he believes, will give negotiations a\u00a0further chance
\nand\u00a0help stabilise the\u00a0overall situation.<\/p>\n
At\u00a0the\u00a0same time, the\u00a0President of\u00a0Russia pointed out that if the\u00a0United States and\u00a0Israel resume military action, this would inevitably lead to\u00a0extremely adverse consequences not only for\u00a0Iran and\u00a0its neighbours, but for\u00a0the\u00a0entire international community. He stressed that a\u00a0ground operation on\u00a0Iranian territory would be particularly unacceptable and\u00a0dangerous.<\/p>\n
Russia remains firmly committed to\u00a0facilitating diplomatic efforts aimed
\nat\u00a0achieving a\u00a0peaceful resolution of\u00a0this crisis, and\u00a0has put forward several
\nproposals to\u00a0help address differences over the\u00a0Iranian nuclear programme. To\u00a0this end, active contacts with Iranian representatives, leaders of\u00a0the\u00a0Gulf
\ncountries, as\u00a0well as\u00a0with Israel, and, naturally, the\u00a0negotiating team of\u00a0the\u00a0United States will continue.<\/p>\n
Donald
\nTrump outlined his assessment of\u00a0the\u00a0outcome of\u00a0the\u00a0concluded phase of\u00a0the\u00a0armed confrontation, as\u00a0well as\u00a0his views on\u00a0the\u00a0current difficult situation
\nfacing Iran and\u00a0its leadership.<\/p>\n
Regarding
\na\u00a0settlement in\u00a0Ukraine, the\u00a0US President emphasised the\u00a0importance of\u00a0an\u00a0early
\ncessation of\u00a0hostilities and\u00a0his readiness to\u00a0do everything in\u00a0his power to\u00a0facilitate this. His authorised representatives will continue contacts with
\nboth Moscow and\u00a0Kiev. Donald Trump said he believes that an\u00a0agreement that
\nwould bring the\u00a0conflict in\u00a0Ukraine to\u00a0an\u00a0end is close.<\/p>\n
Replying to\u00a0a\u00a0question from Trump, Vladimir Putin described the\u00a0current
\nsituation along the\u00a0line of\u00a0contact, where Russian forces retain the\u00a0strategic initiative
\nand\u00a0are pushing back the\u00a0opposing side. It was also noted that since the\u00a0beginning of\u00a02025, Russia has handed over more than 20,000 bodies of\u00a0fallen Ukrainian
\nservicemen, while Ukraine has returned just over 500 bodies of\u00a0Russian servicemen.<\/p>\n
Both Vladimir Putin and\u00a0Donald Trump expressed broadly similar views on\u00a0the\u00a0behaviour of\u00a0the\u00a0Kiev regime led by\u00a0Zelensky, which, incited and\u00a0supported
\nby\u00a0Europeans, is pursuing a\u00a0course aimed at\u00a0prolonging the\u00a0conflict.<\/p>\n
The\u00a0Russian leader stated plainly that Kiev is resorting to\u00a0overtly terrorist
\nmethods, targeting exclusively civilian facilities on\u00a0Russian territory.<\/p>\n
The\u00a0President of\u00a0Russia reaffirmed that the\u00a0goals of\u00a0the\u00a0special military operation
\nwill be achieved in\u00a0any event. At\u00a0the\u00a0same time, he noted that this outcome
\nwould preferably be reached through negotiations, for\u00a0which Zelensky must
\nrespond constructively to\u00a0the\u00a0proposals that have been put forward repeatedly,
\nincluding by\u00a0the\u00a0US side.<\/p>\n
It is notable that Donald Trump expressed a\u00a0positive view on\u00a0the\u00a0Easter ceasefire
\nrecently declared by\u00a0Russia. In\u00a0this connection, Vladimir Putin informed his
\nAmerican counterpart of\u00a0Russia\u2019s readiness to\u00a0declare a\u00a0ceasefire for\u00a0the\u00a0period
\nof\u00a0the\u00a0Victory Day celebrations. President Trump actively supported this
\ninitiative, noting that the\u00a0holiday marks the\u00a0shared victory over Nazism in\u00a0World
\nWar II.<\/p>\n
When discussing Russian-US relations, both leaders pointed to\u00a0the\u00a0great potential for\u00a0mutually
\nbeneficial cooperation in\u00a0the\u00a0economic and\u00a0energy spheres. The\u00a0presidents stated
\nthat their representatives are already engaged in\u00a0substantive discussions on\u00a0a\u00a0number of\u00a0large-scale economic projects.<\/p>\n
